Do immigrant workers really take american Jobs?

The immigration topic is a hot one, especially in my place of employment. I work as an operations coordinator for a farm labor business which shall remain nameless. so the talk of immigration reform is a common one the main topic of discussion is the idea that immigrant workers legal or not are taking American jobs. I find that statement to be completely false and some even suggest that immigrant workers stimulate the economy is such a way that more jobs are created. my previous statement is not unfounded it is well supported by economists such as Heidi Shierholz she states: “In the ongoing debate on immigration, there is broad agreement among economists that it has a small but positive impact on the wages of native-born workers overall: although new immigrant workers add to the labor supply, they also consume goods and services, which creates more jobs” what kind of jobs are created? one might ask those jobs include managers, accountants, craftsmen etc. so in the end stating that immigrant workers steal american jobs is wrong. for example in my hometown the unemployment rate is 6% yet we are in dire need for workers we are often understaffed and nobody applies. what does that suggest?   Here is an interesting article to check out about the subject. http://www.factcheck.org/2010/05/does-immigration-cost-jobs/
